1 June 2011 10:03 pm
After pulling so many different box art scans together that my eyes are getting crossed, I don't see any reason to beat around the bush here. What you'll find here is a visual side-by-side comparison of every game PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 game that was released in both Japan and the U.S. Enjoy!

Cave in the USA — Cult Developer's Shmups Surprisingly Accessible
22 May 2011 4:58 pm
There was a time of much crying and frustration, when every single Cave title was an expensive Japanese import and you had to contend with setting up your console to accommodate these imports. That time is fortunately over. From Xbox 360 to the iOS platform, today you don't have to live in Japan to easily acquire and play Cave's incredible titles. Here is a guide to Cave's recent offerings and where you can find them.

Wii Virtual Console — Still Alive and Kicking Thanks to SNES Hits
13 May 2011 6:02 pm
Much as I've been tempted to lament the demise of the Virtual Console and unleash a diatribe about how many opportunities Nintendo has missed to make this service truly special, some really excellent SNES games have recently become available. What we have here are quite simply two of the best RPGs of the console's entire library along with what's easily one of the best platformers and best titles in the entire Mega Man franchise. With the Wii's price being reduced, the Virtual Console is becoming an even more affordable retro console swiss army knife. Enjoy!

Box Art Disparity — Famicom Disk System vs. NES
1 May 2011 10:15 am
What started back in August 2009 (the first box art disparity feature, covering the TurboGrafx-16) is now complete with the eighth regional comparison of box art, this time examining the mysterious Famicom Disk System. In the past we've seen Japanese artwork dominate. Could the FDS finally present an upset victory for non-Japanese boxes? Wouldn't that be a shocking conclusion to this feature series? Read on to find out.

Wicked Rad Title Music for the TurboGrafx-16
21 April 2011 8:26 pm
Every now and then I double-check a page to make sure it's working properly. Imagine my horror when I realized that a feature from over a year ago was batting under .500 for functioning links to music clips. Doh! Well, it's all fixed now, so this is sort of like unveiling a new update. If you're curious to see a demonstration of why TurboGrafx-16 music doesn't suck (while its graphics are often praised, few people credit the console's sound capabilities), check out this feature, covering some of the best title tracks for games.

Top 10 Update — Dark Wizard Breaks Makes the Cut for Tactical RPGs
11 April 2011 9:06 pm
This one has been recommended to me a number of times; I finally sat down and gave it the time it deserves. You'll definitely need a good chunk of time to sink into it, because the menus are a bit sparse, and you won't find any impressive graphics (beyond the animated cut-scenes) to quickly draw you in. Persevere, though, and you'll discover an incredibly rich tactical RPG. Therefore, you'll find that the original Tactical RPG Top 10 has been revised accordingly.
